Detectives looking for witnesses in diamond robbery

King County Sheriff’s detectives are trying to locate anyone who witnessed a robbery in SeaTac on Tuesday around noon. The victims are employed as diamond couriers and were in town from Hong Kong selling diamonds.

On Tuesday just before noon the victim’s were driving in a black Nissan 4dr in SeaTac. They drove onto the northbound on-ramp to I-5 from S188 St when a black 4-door passenger car cut them off and abruptly stopped in front of them. Another, as yet unidentified vehicle, struck the victim’s vehicle from behind.

Two men wearing masks and sunglasses approached the victim’s vehicle, assaulted the driver and broke out two windows of the car. One of the suspects reached into a broken window and grabbed a backpack containing the diamonds, value estimated at over $400,000. The suspects then fled in the black car.

One witness told police a third suspect stayed near the suspect vehicle and pointed a handgun at the victims while the other two suspects robbed them. Before fleeing one of the suspects punctured tires on the victim’s car.

The suspect vehicle is described as a black, newer model 4-door, possibly a BMW or Mercedes. The suspects were all described as wearing black clothing, including hooded jackets, masks and sunglasses. Both victims believe the suspects were white men since they could see their foreheads during the robbery..
