Marie Madeline (Merlini) Freeman

Marie Madeline (Merlini) Freeman, 84, of Black Diamond passed away October 18, 2016.

She was born December 12, 1931 in Black Diamond to Nello and Oliva (Rossi) Merlini.

Two of her brothers owned businesses in Maple Valley for many years.

Tony Merlini owned the grocery store while Mondell owned the Valley Sport Shop across the street (currently the Tasty Chef).

As a young women, Marie worked as a checker at Joe Mezzavilla/Gibbon store in Maple Valley.

She was a 70 year member of Sons of Italy in America. She also devoted herself to her beloved Black Diamond Community Center.

Marie is survived by her children Darrell Palmer, Livia Ziebarth (Bill), and Randy Palmer all of Washington; 8 grandchildren; and 4 great grandchildren.

She was preceded by her husband Charles Freeman in 1997.

A memorial celebrating Marie’s life will be held Saturday, November 12, at 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. at the Black Diamond Community Center, 31605 Third Avenue.
