James Owen Winter Passed Away

jimwinter.jpegJames Owen Winter passed away in his sleep at home on November 7, 2016.

James was born in Seattle on August 10, 1928 to John and Ellen Winter.

James grew up in Seattle, moved to the Kent area after his marriage to Delores and then moved to Maple Valley in 1965. He then moved to Ravensdale in 2002.

James worked for the Boeing Co. for 39 years. He was a loving family man and was a World War II Veteran. He loved his church, Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran, which he was a founding member since 1972. He loved fishing, woodworking, his chickens, sports, the Seahawks, playing the piano and volunteering for his VFW post 5052 of Maple Valley.

He is survived by his loving wife Dolores of 67 years, his brother Kenneth Winter, his sister Alice Whitmore, sons James (Diana) Winter, Keith (Susan) Winter and Dean (Kathy) Winter, and a daughter Pauline (Mike) Wheeler, ten grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his brother Dennis Winter and sons John, Gregory and Neil Winter.

James was buried at Tahoma National Cemetery on Saturday, November 12.  At 11:30 a.m. A Service and Reception followed immediately at Shepard of the Valley Lutheran Church.
