Mayor Carol Benson presided over the Thursday, January 5, City Council meeting with all Councilmembers present.

Motion to appoint Councilmember Erika Morgan as Mayor Pro Tempore. Passed 3-2 (Edelman, Deady voting no) An amended motion to appoint Janie Eldelman as Mayor Pro Tempore Failed 2-3 (Morgan, Weber, and Pepper voting no)

While there were 5 other pieces of business needing to be taken care, of including approval of the 2012 Stormwater Manual for Western Washington, approval for a Grant Agreement with the Washington State Transportation Improvement Board for the Roberts Drive Maintenance Project and an amendment to the 2017 Budget for the Roberts Drive project. All five were referred to “committee” by Majority Councilmembers Erika Morgan, Brian Morgan, and Pat Pepper. Claim checks and Minutes for June 9th were once again postponed to the next Council meeting while the Minutes for April 21st were postponed indefinitely.

Resolution No. R-17-1124 constituting Final Acceptance of the Public Works Construction Contracts for T-33a, SE 276th Street and T-33b, 240th Avenue SE Roadway Improvements and authorizing staff to close out the contract with Riverton Contractors Inc. Passed 7-0

Resolution No. R-17-1125 authorizing the City Manager to enter into an Interlocal Agreement with King County Public Health for the provision of accepting Local Hazardous Waste Management Program Grant Funds for Maple Valley’s Special Recycling Collection Program. Passed 7-0
