Kids’ Bike Challenge And Safety Rodeo At Lake Wilderness Park Kicks Off The Summer Events!


The City of Maple Valley Parks & Recreation is packing your summer full of festivals, concerts and more! Mark your calendars for fantastic summer entertainment at Lake Wilderness Park!

SATURDAY, JUNE 24 – BEACH OPENS AT LAKE WILDERNESS at NOON – Come to Lake Wilderness Park for the FUN! After the Bike Challenge and Safety Rodeo, the lifeguards will be on duty, the concession stand will be open and the boat and paddleboards will be available to rent. Take a few hours to come and enjoy our beautiful park and all the amenities it offers. Get out and Play in our Park!

BIKE CHALLENGE/SAFETY RODEOJune 24 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. (ages 5-11, no training wheels)

Our annual Kids’ Bike Challenge and Safety Rodeo starts the summer off! Maple Valley Parks & Recreation has teamed up with the Maple Valley Police Department and supported by Good Chevrolet, MV Bike Masters, Proliance Orthopedics, Jon Murdock of Edward Jones, Haeger Orthodontics and the Parnello Team of John L Scott to refresh our community kid’s bike safety skills as the summer outdoor activities begin. The kiddos can participate in our timed Bike Challenge and Safety courses to win ribbons, raffle prizes or maybe a NEW BIKE!!

INDEPENDENCE DAY

July 4th Annual Family Picnic and Fireworks is a city of Maple Valley event presented by title sponsor Fred Meyer! The event starts at 4 p.m. and concludes with a brilliant firework show over Lake Wilderness at 10 p.m. Recology and Good Chevrolet co-sponsor this event that will have family friendly games and activities that will be a blast for the whole family. Maple Valley Signs is sponsoring the Live Music Stage.

ANNUAL PIE BAKING CONTEST – JULY 4th – 4 p.m. – 6 p.m.

KIDS FESTIVAL

On Saturday July 22nd the Kids’ Festival presented by Fred Meyer, is a festival of free activities, games and entertainment that runs from 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. Maple Valley Firefighters Local #3092 generously presents Leapin’ Louie the featured entertainer. Junior Junction and Haeger Orthodontics are sponsoring the face painting, and the Blue Crush Water Slide is offered by Good Chevrolet. This year, Leapin’ Louie will entertain the family with comedic trick roping, fancy whip cracking, juggling and much more. He will be strolling thru the crowds as well as offering 2 shows at 12:00 and 2:00 approximately. Recology Cleanscapes is sponsoring the Candy Cannon!

Sunday, August 20, 5:00-7:00 p.m. Burgers and Blues – Fabulous Roof Shakers: Offering Vintage East Coast Rhythm & Blues!

Thursday August 24, 6:30-8:30 p.m. ABBAgraphs: Pop Music of Abba and bands from the 70’s and 80’s.

Thursday August 24, 8:30 p.m. Movie in the Park- Disney’s Pete’s Dragon- Bring your beach chairs and blankets for the lawn and enjoy some popcorn with your free movie under the stars.

Come hungry, sizzling hot dogs and hamburgers will be grilled up! Concessions will be sold at all events this summer. Help support your local community groups who run the special event and concert concession stand by purchasing your dinner right at the park!
