Don’t Miss Maple Valley Library Guild Fall Book & Media Sale October 25 – 29

Twice each year, Maple Valley Library Guild sponsors a Book & Media Sale at Maple Valley Library at which donated books, CDs, and DVDs are sold, with most items priced at $1.00 or less. This biannual sale provides an opportunity for residents to stockpile a huge reading and media pile for chilly fall evenings, help the environment through the recycling/repurposing/reusing of books and media, and support library programming for children, teens, and adults in Maple Valley. The non-profit Library Guild funds multiple programs at the library, including summer reading programs, story hours, and speakers and presenters for teens and adults. The Book/Media sale is one of its major fundraisers.

This year’s Fall Sale will begin a day earlier than normal with a first-time-ever Members-Only Pre-sale on Wednesday, October 25, from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. Current Library Guild members can preview all of the books, CDs, and DVDs, and get the first opportunity to purchase. Those who are not members of Maple Valley Library Guild can join the Guild that evening at the door for $5.00 and accompany current members in their shopping sprees. The remainder of the Book/Media sale will run from 10:00 to 8:00 on Thursday, Oct. 26; from 10:00 to 5:00 on Friday, Oct. 27; from 10:00 to 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 28, and from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 29, in the library meeting room. Those who especially love a great bargain will want to take advantage of the Bag Sale from 1:00 to 4:00 on Sunday, where they can stuff a plastic grocery bag provided by the Guild) full of books and media for only $5.00.

The Guild is also raffling a book quilt created and donated by a Guild member. Raffle tickets are $1 per ticket, and the quilt is currently displayed at Maple Valley Library. On Saturday, October 28, at 4:00, the winner of the quilt raffle will be chosen, although the winner does not need to be present to win. Purchasing raffle tickets will further support library programming for all ages.
