Mayor Carol Benson presided over the Thursday, March 1, City Council meeting with all Councilmembers present.

First order of business was the appointment of a new Councilmember to fill the vacated seat of former Councilmember Pat Pepper, following her Recall from a King County Special Election held on February 13th. Motion to appoint Chris Wisnoski to Council Position #5. Passed 4-0 (Councilmember Tamie Deady made the motion, 2nd by Janie Edelman)

Resolution No. 18-1233, authorizing the Mayor to execute a professional services agreement with Varius, Inc. for Civil Engineering Services for the MDRT. Passed 5-0

Resolution No. 18-1232, authorizing the Mayor to execute a Professional Services agreement with Parametrix, Inc. for the design engineering of the Roberts Drive Improvements, 236th Avenue SE to Bruckners Way Project. Passed 5-0

Monday, March 5 – The council has unanimously adopted another step in removing gendered terms wherever possible in the King County code to make it gender-neutral.

The council gave its unanimous support to the City of Seattle’s bid to be a host city of the 2026 Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) World Cup. The legislation comes on the heels of last month’s action at the Seattle City Council to declare its own support for the effort.
