The following message was sent to STMS families and staff members Tuesday evening:

Dear Summit Trail Middle School family:

We have received information about a message that was posted on social media today by a Summit Trail student, warning that students should not come to school tomorrow. The message was reported to police, who contacted the student earlier this evening. Police advise us that the student has been arrested and booked into the youth service center for making a threat. Summit Trail will operate on its usual schedule. Tahoma’s School Resource Officer also will be at school tomorrow and is available to talk to students if they have concerns. School counselors also are available to talk to students about their concerns.

We thank police for their swift response and also thank the person or persons who alerted police. Student safety is our highest priority and we are grateful to have vigilant community and law enforcement partners. We value that students and adults saw something and said something to make sure everyone is safe.

If you have questions or concerns, please contact the main office.

Thank you,
Sean Cassidy
Principal
