Reading with Rover

Tuesday, December 11, 6pm

Ages 4 and older with adult.

Build reading skills and confidence by reading aloud to a certified therapy dog in a welcoming environment. Reading with Rover is a community-based literacy program working with schools and libraries throughout the greater Seattle area.

Renton Teen Round Table

Renton Teen Round Table (or RT2 for short) is the teen leadership group of the Renton libraries. This is a forum to give teens leadership opportunities and a voice in planning programs/events

Students will earn volunteer credit for their participation.

Calaca Paper Quilling Art Workshop

Wednesday, December 5, 7pm

Ages 8 and older.

Presented by Amaranta Sandys, ArtMaranth School of Art.

Quilling is the art of rolling narrow strips of paper into coils or scrolls, and arranging them to form elegant filigree. Use a toothpick to roll coils and scrolls, then pinch, shape and arrange them into decorative patterns to create a paper sugar skill.

Learn English grammar, reading, writing and conversation skills with an experienced instructor.

Neighborhood Legal Clinics

Tuesday, December 4, 11 and 18, 6:30pm

The King County Bar Association provides free 30-minute consultations with volunteer attorneys to any King County residents with civil legal issues. This clinic location is in partnership with the Loren Miller Bar Association which provides a safe space for clients of color. Attorneys cannot represent clients but can refer to other assistance.

A.R.I.S.E. Shelter Intake

Wednesday, December 5, 12 and 19, 1-2pm

Catholic Community Services staff will be available for intake sessions for the A.R.I.S.E. shelter on a first come, first served basis. The A.R.I.S.E. shelter is open 365 days a year serving single adult homeless men age 18 and older.

Must bring a form of picture ID for intake.

Get Enrolled: ORCA LIFT and Basic Food

Thursday, December 6, 1-3pm

Drop in to register for ORCA LIFT and/or Washington State’s Basic Food Program.

ORCA LIFT is a reduced fare on area public transit for income-qualified riders, ages 19 and older.

Please bring ID and income verification documents.

Basic Food is what Washington calls the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), a USDA program that helps people make ends meet by providing monthly food benefits. Individuals and families may apply.

Certification is an excellent way to prepare for achievement in the classroom or the workforce. Take a certification exam in Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS), Adobe Certified Associate (ACA), Microsoft Technology Associate (MTA), or Microsoft Certified Educator (MCE) at this session.
