Tahoma Bears Wrestling Team won their first tournament of the year

The Tahoma Bears Wrestling Team won their first tournament of the year, the Auburn Invite. Coming into the final round, the Bears were tied South Kitsap. Luckily, the Bears matched up five different times in the finals with the Wolves. The Bears would win four of those five match-ups securing the team victory.  The Bears had five individual champions: Austin Michalski at 120, Nick Whitehead at 138, Ryden Fu at 145, Dagen Kramer at 215, and Nic Carbone at 285. The Bears had many other placers in the Varsity tournament as well as multiple champions and placers in the JV tournament. The Bears begin the season as the number one ranked team in the 4A Classification.

 

This week the Bears have a full schedule. Wednesday, the Bears will have their first league dual at Kent Meridian. The Bears have not lost a league dual in the last eight years. Thursday night, the Bears will face the returning state champions, Lake Stevens. This dual will happen at Enumclaw High School, where the Bears will also face the Enumclaw Hornets, in the annual Battle of the Bone. On Saturday, the Bears will compete in the Olympic Duals. This is team dual tournament made up of many of the states top ranked teams.  This week will be a great opportunity for the Bears to compete against top level competition. We hope to fill the stands with Bear Fans!
