On Thursday, February 9, 2017 at 1:37 p.m. in the 24200 block of 249th Avenue SE, Maple Valley Fire and Puget Sound Fire were dispatched to an odor investigation. The odor was from a dislodged propane tank; a mudslide, approximately ¼ acre in size, occurred which also involved a structure and vehicles. The occupants were not home at the time.

County and State engineers were called and further investigated the hazard. Surrounding homes were evacuated and the Red Cross was requested to assist with displaced homeowners.
