Welders earn second place at competition

The student welders wait to run their hand truck through the obstacle course while carrying a 100-pound piece of steel.

Tahoma High School students Jeremy Waler, Cain Vu and Garit Bowman competed in a Welding and Fabrication contest last weekend at Lincoln High School in Tacoma, where they earned second place, teacher Scott Newton reported.

The three had four hours to reverse-engineer and fabricate a hand truck during the challenge.
