Construction to close northbound I-5 off-ramp to Madison Street this weekend, Feb. 23-26

Several expansion joints to be replaced along downtown Seattle exit

Drivers traveling on northbound Interstate 5 through Seattle this weekend may need to adjust their route if it involves exiting at Madison Street.

The northbound I-5 off-ramp to Madison Street will be closed to all traffic from 9 p.m. Friday, Feb. 23, through 5 a.m. Monday, Feb. 26. Drivers will need to use the nearby James Street or Olive Way off-ramps as a detour.

Contractor crews from Atkinson Construction will use the closure to replace four expansion joints along the off-ramp. However, the work is weather dependent and rain or snow could postpone it to another weekend.

This work is part of the next phase of #ReviveI5 that will rehabilitate 13 miles of roadway on northbound I-5 between Martin Luther King Jr. Way and Northeast Ravenna Boulevard.

Drivers can get real-time traffic information on their phone with the WSDOT traffic app and by tracking the WSDOT traffic Twitter feed.
