Maple Valley and Black Diamond named “Best of the ‘Burbs”

The cities of Maple Valley and Black Diamond were featured in King 5 News’ “Best of the ‘Burbs” segment, touting good schools, food, and outdoor recreation. King 5 also dubbed both cities as “still affordable and have reputations of being great places to call home.”

According to their website, here are the reasons they chose Maple Valley and Black Diamond to be featured in the segment:

1. Maple Valley’s schools are a huge draw for new residents. The Tahoma School District is ranked #12 of 248 districts in the state according to Niche.com.

2. Since 1997, Maple Valley has doubled in population to more than 25,000 people.

3. After more than 20 years in business, the well-known Testy Chef restaurant has changed hands and is now called Seven.

4. Black Diamond’s historic downtown is a “do not miss.” The Black Diamond Bakery is an award winning institution that’s more than 100 years old; and they still use an old brick oven to bake the breads. The Doughnuts (and everything else) are to die for!

5. While Black Diamond might be a hike from Seattle, it’s right next door to the Northwest’s best outdoor attractions. It’s minutes away from Flaming Geyser State Park and just a one hour drive to Crystal Mountain!
