Paul Eugene Bartholomew
May 1928 – October 2019
Paul Eugene Bartholomew was born on May 18, 1928 in Brandonville, West Virginia and died peacefully surrounded by family on October 4, 2019 in Issaquah, Washington.
His family moved to the Hobart area when he was an infant. As he grew up, he worked at Lake Wilderness, Taylor, the coal mines of Black Diamond, and picked many strawberries with his mom.
He graduated from Tahoma High School in 1946. He was in the Navy and the International Guard.
After marrying Thelma in 1950 he served in the Air Force. He worked at Boeing, Central Pontiac, Downing Auto, and 31 years at Sound Elevator until retirement.
He enjoyed stock car racing, golfing, fishing, camping, motorcycle racing with his boys, cedar river racing, and playing cards.
He was very involved in his church and served faithfully for many years. He loved his church family and they loved him.
Paul was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and uncle. He and Thelma watched children their whole married lives. They went to kids sports games, and activities. He loved them all individually. Their lawn chairs and blankets were always in the back of their car. He will be missed by all, because he never met anyone that wasn’t a friend.
Paul is survived by his wife of 69 years, Thelma, Sisters Dorothy Habenicht and Evelyn Miller of Maple Valley, Brother David (Glennie) of Green Acres, Son Daniel (Donna Lea) of Issaquah, Daughter Karen Lindquist of Kent, and Son Timothy (Donna Jean) of Enumclaw. He was a devoted grandfather of Kyle (Sharon), Aaron (Kathy), Adam (Molly), Elizabeth (Curtis), Danielle (Ben), Sarah, Leah, Zach (Cassi), Rebekah, Noah, Rachelle, Bree (Jeff), 16 great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, and too many friends to count.
A viewing will be held at Flintoff’s in Issaquah on Friday October 18, 2019 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
