Three high school graduates will literally be comforted in their future. They were all recipients of a quilt made by members of a women’s group at Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church. The quilters traditionally honor each graduate whose family attends SVLC. McKenna Duluoz, Xander VanWinkle and Laila Holman were this year’s recipients.
Mom Heather Holman stood in for her daughter while accepting her quilt. Back at home, McKenna was brought to tears in excitement over seeing her anime t-shirts made into a quilt. She had been collecting those shirts throughout her youth. Meanwhile, Xander just completed a complicated surgery on his heel and arch. The quilt has been essential to covering his legs as he heals and is unable to wear long pants.
