Lois Ann Knadle Clapper
September 25, 1926 – September 23, 2023
Lois was born in Renton, Washington to parents, Mark Knadle and Ruth Lagesson. She grew up on Sweeney Road, rural Maple Valley, the second for four children. Lois went to TaHoMa school district through graduation in 1944.
The Knadle kids lived next door to their cousins, the Dubigk family, (Mary, Maxine and Henry (Buddy), cementing a close bond between that generation. The Knadle family lived down the street from Ruth’s family, Pete and Laura Lagesson and sons.
Lois worked in Seattle, prior to meeting and marrying Howard Clapper in 1946.
The couple had three children, William, Laura and Mark, and lived on Beacon Hill in Seattle before moving to a new house built on part of the Lagesson Homestead n 1963.
Lois worked and retired from the City of Seattle, Traffic Engineer Department. She enjoyed traveling, gardening, becoming a Master Gardener, and genealogy.
Lois was active with the Maple Valley Historical Society, her mother, Ruth Knadle was a founding member. Lois took classes at Green River CC with her sister, Alice, entering into sibling rivalry for the highest grade.
Lois was preceded in death by Howard Clapper, son Mark, siblings, Grant Knadle (1923-2015), Alice Kubisky (1929-2012) David Knadle (1934-2020) and Dubigk cousins.
She is survived by William and family, Laura Capili and family and Mark’s daughter, Erica Slatt and family.
