Hal Grant Read died at Valley Medical Center in Renton on December 23, 2023 at the age of 83.
Hal was born in Seattle, WA to Harold and Mary Read. He was a graduate of Enumclaw High School in 1958 and studied forestry at the University of Washington.
He married his wife of 62 years, Joan, shortly after college before entering the forest industry where he worked in Alaska and Washington. Eventually settling down in Maple Valley, WA to raise their three sons. After working for Weyerhauser, Hal started his own logging company which he operated successfully for many years.
After selling his business, he and Joan started Diamond Sports Shop in Black Diamond, WA where they sold hunting and fishing supplies. In retirement, he enjoyed spending time at their Trout Lake property in Montana. He also enjoyed golfing with friends.
Hal is survived by his wife Joan, their three sons Kip (Paula), Shane and Ron (Peggy); and grandchildren Felicia, Levi, Austin, Hunter, Travis, Chloe and Josie.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, January 13, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. in the afternoon at the Buckley Eagles 29021 WA-410 Buckley 98321.
