A special group of young people were recognized this month for their hours of service at Black Diamond Historical Society/Museum. A federal program, the President’s Volunteer Service Award, encourages youth to become involved in their communities. And indeed, four junior volunteers did just that – they contributed a total of 395 hours of their time volunteering in 2024. A certificate signed by the president of the United States and a commemorative lapel pin were awarded to each in a special ceremony this month.

Ian Nitsche and Inha Paik received Young Adult Silver pins for 175.5 hours and 75 hours of volunteer service respectively, Jillian Curtiss was given a Teens – Gold for 102 hours of service and Braedon Reyes was awarded a Bronze for 42.5 hours.

One can only imagine what their resumes will reveal by the time they graduate from high school.
