May is a busy month at Black Diamond History Museum. It features topics from booze to heritage to town history at 1:00 pm-2:00 pm on May 2, May 3, and May 16.
First up, on Saturday, May 2, is “How Whiskey Won Washington” with Author Becky Garrison. Washington’s history with prohibition is mixed; efforts to ban or restrict liquor date back to 1854.
Sunday, May 3 features “The Legacy of the Chinese Exclusion Act” where one can learn the impact of the 1882 Act. The Act forbade immigration of Chinese to America. Author Trish Hackett Nicola reveals how the Chinese were instrumental in bringing the railroad to Black Diamond.
Saturday, May 16 offers “The History of Ravensdale”. Historian Michael Brathovde presents the story and history of Ravensdale in what has been called “an excellent and informative session”.
All events at Black Diamond History Museum are free and open to the public.
