Ellen Webber and Mary Lynne Evans display the Welsh flag while manning a heritage booth at Black Diamond Historical Society’s 50th Anniversary. Welsh Heritage Day has been celebrated on the first Saturday in June for more than 30 years. The immigrants played a central role in the founding and early development of Black Diamond when the town’s population of 3,000 people included one-third of whom were Welsh-speaking. The historical society is committed to preserving and sharing the stories of Welsh immigrants and their contributions. ~Photo by D’Ann Tedford
