Unknown Poets Will Meet Again
January 17 @ 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm
The Unknown Poets Society has a vision of publishing selected poems written by those reciting at periodically scheduled events. “A small cheap book to be published could be sold as a fundraiser for a worthy cause in Black Diamond,” said Susan Etchey of the goal. She described The Unknown Poets Society as composed of “all of us who are not famous – yet! This will help some of our ‘unknown poets’ become known.” Etchey is an author and freelance writer who organized the first poetry evening in November and chose the name for the group. A second poetry event is coming up in two weeks.
Calling all poets and inviting the public, Etchey starts the evening with participant sign-ups beginning at 4:00 p.m.; readings at 4:30. “Read your own original poems or read your favorite poems,” she says of the three-minute presentations. “Poetry readers and writers should be prepared to tell where they are from when introducing themselves and give their poetry interests and goals.” The audience chooses a winning original poem at the end of recitations. The next evening of poetry readings is at Black Gold Coffee Company, 4:00 to 6:00 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 17. Contact Susan Etchey at firstname.lastname@example.org additional information if needed.
