Pete Mitchell West Passed Away

Pete Mitchell West passed away on February 26, 2016.

He was born to the late Homer West and Dorothy Dutton West on October 19, 1949.

Pete lived and attended schools in Moses Lake and at Green River Community College, Auburn.

Pete is survived by his loving wife, Molly. They were married in Auburn in 1973 and lived near Black Diamond for 35 years.

Pete is lovingly remembered by his wife Molly; brother Bob (Ella) of Moses Lake; brother Don (Harriet) of Moses Lake; brother Thom of Spokane; son Jesse (Xochitl); daughter Rose West Schermerhorn (Dan); loving grandchildren Isandro, Irepani and Taylor; brother and sister in-laws; and many nieces and nephews.

Pete had a variety of work interests from Disney World (1971), building bicycle components (1990’s) and many aspects of heavy construction. He drove dump trucks, operated heavy equipment and made and sold gravel and soil products; retiring from Palmer Coking Coal in 2014. He was loved by his coworkers and customers and always had a smile and a fishing story.

His love of the outdoors led to hosting bike races, camps and many work parties at the family property.

While he enjoyed baseball and football, fishing was his greatest love.

Pete’s show of strength while fighting leukemia for 16 months was admired by all.
