Reserve Silica Mine Reclamation & Toxics Clean-up Program
The Ravensdale Reserve Silica mine, currently subject to reclamation and toxics clean up, will be the subject of the Greater Maple Valley Unincorporated Area Council (GMVUAC) monthly meeting on Monday, June 5, 7:00 to 9:00 PM.
This will be a special meeting devoted entirely to the reclamation and clean up of the Reserve Silica mine with officials from the State Department of Ecology (DOE); King County Departments of Permitting & Environmental Review, Natural Resources & Parks; and Department of Health; along with the site owners and contractors present to discuss current status, future plans, and schedule to ensure the near and long-term health and safety of the local and regional community.
This special meeting will be held where all GMVUAC monthly meetings are held – the Maple Valley Fire Station (southeast corner of SE 231st St & SR-169 intersection across from the Sheriff’s Precinct). Members of the public are always welcome to attend and can address the Area Council on any local issue of concern during an Open Comment period at the start of each meeting. The Public also will be able to ask questions of any of our guest speakers.
Your Area Council represents and is elected by all unincorporated area residents living in the Tahoma School District. It advocates to King County, our local government, issues of importance to local citizens in the areas of growth management, transportation, environment, and economy.
The Area Council also works with nearby cities of Maple Valley, Covington, and Black Diamond on local issues. King County, Regional, and State officials often address the Area Council and local residents. Please see: www.greatermaplevalleyareacouncil.org.
