Baby-delivery storks will be working overtime in the next few months as they wing their way to Maple Valley delivering little bundles of joy to half of the hair stylists of Stan Parente Salon located on the corner of Wax Rd. and Maple Valley Hwy. across the parking lot of Taco Time.
Baby boom news began popping in late 2017 so that by mid-2018, nine of the 18 stylists had announced they were pregnant. As the months began ticking off, it was discovered that developing babies included 6 boys and 3 girls. With mama’s ranging in age from approximately 25-30 years old, 2 were first time mamas and the remaining 7 were second time mama’s.
Recently, the gals got a bit of a chuckle when they learned from a national news story that a hospital in Mesa, Arizona – Banner Desert Medical Center – came up with 16 nurses who were all pregnant at the same time. Thinking about the ratio of Arizona hospital employees to their 16 nurses brought good humored bragging rights to the local gals whose ratio added up to 9 pregnant stylists out of 22 employees/stylists at Stan Parente Salon – that’s nearly half of their employees.
Of the three Stan Parente Salon’s – Federal Way, Maple Valley, and Bellevue – the stylists and employees at Maple Valley’s branch are a tight group who enjoy each other’s company and support system not only during business hours, but off hours as well. Sporting a very low turnover from the salon over the years finds 2 have been with the Maple Valley salon (which opened in 2005) for 10 years, one for two years and the rest for approximately 5 years.
Meanwhile, babies are already beginning to pop with one born in May and the second in June. Following a bit of a lull, three babies will be coming along in October one in November, two in December, and the final bundle of joy born in January.
