The King County Library System (KCLS) has announced its Best Books of 2019. The annual list reveals KCLS’ top 100 books of the year, and includes 25 titles in each of the following categories: fiction, nonfiction, children and teen.
Best Books are selected by KCLS librarians and staff members who, collectively, read thousands of books each year. Once nominations have been received, and votes are tabulated, KCLS Readers’ Services Program Coordinator Emily Calkins finalizes the lists.
“Escapist reads were popular this year,” said Calkins. “Our fiction list includes five titles about romance or romantic comedies—up last year from just two! And for nonfiction titles, there were more biographies and memoirs on the list this year, than books about current events.”
