A Maple Valley resident not only won the $250,000 top prize playing Scratch “Red Hot 10s” from Washington’s Lottery, but he’s also winning husband of the year thanks to his decision to reinvest his $20 win from another Scratch ticket.
The winner plans to celebrate his big win by taking his wife on a surprise trip to Las Vegas, a place she’s never been but always wanted to visit. “She doesn’t know we’re going,” he said. “Once I tell her, she’s going to pick all the shows and we’ll do whatever she wants. She’s going to be so excited.”
The winner, a superintendent with a home builder, plans to put most of the winnings into savings. He bought his winning ticket at Safeway, located at 17051 SE 272nd St. in Covington, a store he visits daily for lunch or groceries, and where he regularly plays the Lottery.
“Red Hot 10s” is a Scratch game from Washington’s Lottery. Each ticket is $10 and there are four ways to win. The prizes range from $10 to $250,000.
