Born February 26, 1928 to Virgil and Beatrice Lontz, he graduated from Tahoma High School in 1946 while also serving in the Coast Guard.

An asbestos worker for most of his life, Ed was a proud, long-standing member and delegate of the Heat & Frost Insulators and Allied Workers Union. He was honored at the 2017 international convention, the only retiree to have ever received a labor pin honoring 65 years of service.

He loved the outdoors and was an avid fisherman. He also enjoyed hunting, gardening, camping, and mushroom picking. He could build and fix almost anything, and he loved trains and cuckoo clocks. Ed was a great storyteller, and he was well respected and loved by many.

Ed leaves behind his wife, Shyla Lontz; his daughter, Wanda (Larry) Mezzano; his stepchildren, Deborah Moulds, Dwayne (Jennine) Moulds, and Martin (Lynn) Finn; his son-in-law, Howard Spangler; as well as nieces, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and many dear friends.
