Maple Valley Food Bank Kicks Off Holiday Giving with Kroger, Celebrates Community Contributions

The Maple Valley Food Bank and Emergency Services will kick off holiday giving at the community’s first holiday food drive of the season, taking place at Maple Valley Fred Meyer on Friday, November 13 from 10 AM to 3 PM. Community members are encouraged to participate.

The Maple Valley Food Bank and Emergency Services is also proud to debut its new box truck at the storefront food drive, which was paid for by a grant from The Kroger Co. Zero Hunger | Zero Waste Foundation and made possible by community contributions through year-long Kroger giving programs.

Amid what has been a very challenging year, the Food Bank is asking local families to rally behind its cause once again to ‘fill the truck and set the table!’ This one-day food drive, taking place at Fred Meyer on November 13, is an act of ‘neighbors helping neighbors’ and an orchestrated effort to launch the annual holiday campaign, which runs through December 7, 2020.

The Food Bank team will be on-site collecting holiday food items and monetary donations to help make the season bright and provide over 3,600 individuals with holiday meals this season.

“We always say that our programs are by the community and for the community,” shared Executive Director Lindsey Habenicht. “We can’t do what we do without the support of our neighbors, and we are overwhelmed with hope for what this holiday kick off could mean for our Food Bank.”

“As we gear up to support nearly 600 families this holiday season, we find ourselves so grateful for the generosity shown to us in Maple Valley and beyond. The Kroger Foundation helped us purchase a truck when we needed one most, community members have given in excess when our shelves were bare, and our Maple Valley Fred Meyer team constantly innovates to help us meet our ever-growing needs. We can’t wait to share our thanks and celebrate with you all.”
