‘Celebrate Them’ is on Agenda for August 10

Judy Schiller and Sherrie Evans have been celebrated as winners in Cedar River boat racing. Both still live in the Maple Valley area.

With Cedar River now flowing at “high tide,” the history of racing should catch the attention of those who witnessed those races 50 years ago. The starting point was generally at Landsburg, then downstream along Dorre Don Road, under-and-around Maple Valley Highway, and near Cedar Grove Road into Renton.

All are invited to attend ‘Celebrate Them‘, an afternoon devoted to racers and boat racing. The memory-sharing event is co-sponsored by Maple Valley Historical Society and Maple Valley Community Center. It will be held at MV Community Center on Saturday, Aug. 10, 2024, 1:00–3:00 pm.

There is no cost to attend ‘Celebrate Them’ or to enjoy a light lunch. There will be an open mic with which to share boat racing memories and to show and display ribbons, trophies, oars, clothing or other memorabilia.

Those who plan to attend ‘Celebrate Them’ can email their contact information and their association with racing to info@maplevalleyhistorical.com. Please write “boat racing” in the subject line.
