Last week Tahoma’s counselors were reconginzed for National School Counseling Week 2021, “School Counselors: All in for All Students,” sponsored by the American School Counselor Association. The week is designed to highlight the unique contributions of school counselors within U.S. school systems and how students are different as a result of what school counselors do.
“Professional School counselors are critical supports on campus that all students can access. Not only do they support career and academic success but most importantly, they are here to support and foster the social-emotional needs of our students,” said Liz Thibert, district Wellness Coordinator. “Their hearts for caring for our students, families, and staff are quite remarkable. I have worked with Professional School Counselors from all around the state and I am honored to work alongside (Tahoma’s) phenomenal team. They are innovators and determined to help as many students as possible. Like teachers, they had to move their counseling offices from campus to online. The creativity that happened over this time period has been outstanding! Thank you to each of our counselors and social workers that have worked tirelessly to support our community. In addition, thank you to our district and School Board for supporting us with more counseling staff. Help me in celebrating your school counselor or social worker by reaching out and letting them know how much they have impacted you or your student.”
