This Saturday May 7th Pacific Raceways will once again be host for the 52nd Annual Cornwell Tools All High School Drags. The high school winner this year will receive from the presenting sponsor Cornwell Tools a full tool set and rolling tool cart valued at $2,699. There’s more. In addition to the tool set, associate sponsor Green RiverCollege will be awarding the winner a $1,500 scholarship. The runner-up will get a $1,000 scholarship, and the semi-finalist a $500 scholarship. The high school drag champion will then compete against one of the stars of the NHRA Camping World Drag Racing Series at the Flav-R-Pac NHRA Northwest Nationals on July 30th. In addition to the winner’s trophy and bragging rights for the year, the high school with the most round wins will receive a special trophy for their school’s trophy case. The Alumni class winner will also receive a tool set and rolling tool cart from Cornwell Tools. Want more? There will be exhibition cars. Scheduled are a 1951 Chevy Pro Mod car, an A- Fueled dragster and a pair of the Northwest fastest street legal cars making passes down the quarter mile. Something new this year is the “Battle of the Bands”. This will be going on throughout the event with the winning band taking home the “Battle of the Bands” trophy. Band must furnish their own amps and sound system. Car and driver entry fee is $50. Alumni Class is open to anyone 25 years and under. Lest I forget the ever popular “Burn Out Contest” will also be happening. Contest is limited to the first 20 entries. The entry fee is $25. Spectator tickets are $15.00 at the gate. Save yourself $5.00 and get them in advance on-line. The gates open at 10:00 AM with all the action starting at noon until 10:00 PM. This is a great way to spend a Saturday and support your school.
