Karen J. Prince, age 79 died after losing her battle with a lengthy illness.
She is survived by her partner of 26 years Darryl Weide of Maple Valley, and her sons; Rolly (Bonnie) and Royle (SharI) of Anchorage, her grandchildren Tyler, Trevor and Macy, her sister Pauline Hall and her kids who have always been there for Karen and family.
She was preceded in death by her daughter Paula Joy in Eagle River, Ak., her parents Harry and Leona Rystrom of Albert Lea, Mn and her sisters Elaine and Shirley also from Mn.
Karen had an amazing spirit and an endless drive to do for others. She was a cheerleader in high school where her picture still hangs on the walls. She went on to volunteer as a coach for underprivileged teens in the school she was working.
She joined Sweet Adelines and traveled the world competing in song. When she met Darryl, she met her last romantic love. They took amazing trips, went to concerts, plays, picnics in the park, even winning a top prize at the Miners and Trappers ball.
Most of all, she loved being a Mom and a Grandma. She loved big and put everything into it.
She walked into every room with a smile. About 5 years ago she started needing more care… that is when you find out what a special community you have. Dear friends, professionals and family all stepped up to help because of who she was and how she lived, thinking about everyone else.
The family would request that in lieu of flowers that donations be made to the Evergreen Hospice Organization.
