The last time the Third Leg of the “Western Swing” was here in Seattle was 2019.  This weekend July 29th -31st the National Hot Rod Association rolls into Pacific Raceways for the FLAV-R-PAC Northwest Nationals.  This is the 13th stop in the 22 race season for the NHRA.  The 1st leg of the “Swing” started in Denver and last weekend moved on to Sonoma.  The points chase is heating up as the Pro drivers in Top Fuel, Funny Car, Pro Stock take aim at the Championship in each class at the end of the season.  Drivers such as Greg Anderson, Dallas Glenn, Erica Enders, and others in Pro Stock will be looking to add to their point totals.  Then in Funny Car drivers John Force, Ron Capps, JR Todd, and others will be lighting up the track.  Not to be forgotten are the drivers in Top Fuel such as Steve Torrence, Leah Pruett,  Brittany Force, Tony Schumacher and the rest of the Top Fuel class all getting ready to take on the premier drag strip of the Northwest.

In addition there will be the Sportsman drivers and teams from in and around the Northwest, Canada and all across the country looking to obtain the coveted “Wally” in their respective classes.  They will be competing in Super Stock, Stock Eliminator, Super Gas, Super Street, Super Comp, Top Sportsman, Top Dragster, and Competition Eliminator.  Also there will be Top Alcohol Dragster and Funny Car.  In addition will be the Manufacturers Midway, the Nitro Mall, autograph session, the Nitro School with Jim Oberhofer, and on Sunday morning the Seal Master Track Walk.  Gates open at 8:30 AM with racing starting at 9:15 AM.  The Pro classes will be qualifying on Friday starting at 6:00 PM and two sessions Saturday afternoon with eliminations beginning Sunday after the pre-race ceremonies.  Tickets are available by calling the Pacific Raceways Office at (253) 639-5927.

We’ve been waiting for the thunder of the NHRA to come back to Pacific Raceways since 2019 and this weekend it returns.  This is three intense days of “ground pounding” action of the National Hot Rod Association and one weekend you do not want to miss.  This is not the end of the season however, as there is more to come.  To get more information on the rest of the schedule then check out www.pacificraceways.com.  I’ll be there, will you?
