Glenda Louise Weiler Passed Away

October 9, 1948 – September 20, 2022

Glenda Louise Weiler, beloved wife, mother, grandma, great-grandma, aunt, sister, and friend to all she met, died September 20, 2022, at age 73, at her home that she built together with her husband of 40 years in Auburn, Washington.

Glenda was born Glenda Louise Deschamp on October 9, 1948 in Westhope North Dakota, to parents Frank and Audrey Deschamp, both whom have predeceased her.  Her earliest memories were of farm life and a house full of siblings (she was one of 8 brothers and sisters) and family dinners around the big table that hosted anyone and everyone that showed up.

When she graduated from high school she moved out West to Seattle, Washington and lived with her Aunt Ruthy and Uncle Stan.   She went on to get hired with Nordstrom warehouse where she worked for 20 years until they closed their doors. After that she worked at a host of places including Tommy Bahamas, Nordstroms Rack, she worked for her daughter and son-in-law at One.7, Inc., the Tahoma School District Transportation Dept, EEP and more and even opened a Pita Pit together with her husband in Tacoma for a few years.  She loved all of her jobs and the people and kids she met along the way.  We would have to say her favorite was working with the kids at the Tahoma School District.  She truly had a calling for that job, and she was loved by the parents and all the kids, including her colleagues.

In her later years, Glenda loved nothing more than her 7 grandkids and most recently her 3 great grandkids. She loved traveling back to North Dakota to see family and exploring the country side with Rick by her side. They attended over 75 concerts together all over the state and some of their favorites were in Branson, Missouri and Nashville, Tennessee. Her love of cows grew, but in 2019 she found a new love of donkey’s.  Rick and her attended a donkey rodeo and that’s all it took. In fact, she told us that’s how we would know she was with us once she was gone. If you see a donkey she is with us. Her sense of humor was not lost, not even in her final moments.

She is survived by her amazing and selfless husband Richard Weiler of 40 years and her 4 children Tina (Hudson) (Cory) McDonough, David (Tricia) Hudson, Curtis Weiler and Cory Weiler.  Her 7 grandchildren Cody McDonough (Cierra Wilson), Taya (McDonough) (Deryk) Stewart, Trista McDonough, Haley Hudson, Marrie And Anna Weiler and Kasie Weiler and her 3 great grandchildren, Harlie Rae Stewart, RaeLynn Stewart and Cash McDonough.

She is also survived by her siblings/spouses; Linda Ellingson (Dennis), Debbie Renwick (Milt), Bill Deschamp (Melanie), Barry Deschamp (Robin), Kevin Deschamp (Lori), Candy Williams (Dan) and Julie DiGrazia.

Glenda died surrounded by her loving family after a long 2-year, 3-month 12-day battle with cancer. Because of her love of Valley Girls & Guys! And all they have done personally for her and her family and countless others she has requested in lieu of flowers to please make a donation to Valley Girls & Guys! to help other cancer patients that will unfortunately experience the cancer journey.  More importantly she wanted to ask everyone to join the Valley Girls & Guys! 5th Annual Be the Hope Walk on July 22, 2023 because her goal was mirrored with her daughter Tina’s to get 1,000 + walkers to be the hope for others.  www.valleygirlsandguys.org
