Darryl Bruce Weide Passed Away

April 17, 1946 – June 1, 2023                                              

Darryl Bruce Weide of Maple Valley, Washington passed away on June 1, 2023, in Milton, WA. Darryl last resided in Maple Valley. Darryl graduated from Tahoma High School and Washington State University before he was drafted by the U.S. Army. He served two tours in Vietnam in Special Forces Intelligence. 

In 1975 he moved to Fairbanks and married Molly “Becky” Paradis in 1976. They divorced in Washington in 1990. He returned to Alaska in 1993, this time to Anchorage, where he met his domestic partner of 26 years, Karen J. Prince. In 2006, Darryl returned to Maple Valley with Karen to care for his elderly father.

Darryl was an intermodal freight specialist whose career began at Sourdough Freightlines in Fairbanks and ended in retirement from Alaska West Express, a Lynden company. Career stops included the Alaska Railroad and self-employment.

Darryl is survived by his brother Richard Weide (Mary Jo) of Enumclaw, WA; niece, Marjorie Weide of Orlando, FL; nephew, Scott Weide (Casey) of Auburn, WA; niece, Heide Hansen (Leif) of Tumwater, WA; and stepdaughter, Renée C Paradis of Sequim, WA.

Darryl is preceded in death by his domestic partner Karen J. Prince; his mother and father, Marian and Elwyn Weide; and his aunt, Gretchen Weide.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Lake Wilderness Lodge at 22500 SE 248th St, Maple Valley, WA 98038 on Monday, September 25, 2023, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m.
