The sponsors, the date, the location have all been arranged. Maple Valley’s boat racers from the good old days on Cedar River, and their enthusiast supporters, can now mark their 2024 calendars for an upcoming event. Celebrating the racers is a work in progress; it is 10 months down the road to give plenty of prep time for scheduling Maple Valley visits and vacations.
Maple Valley Community Center and Maple Valley Historical Society are co-sponsoring “Celebrate Them – Cedar River Boat Racers”. The event will be held at Maple Valley Community Center and Maple Valley Museum on Saturday, Aug. 10, 2024, 1:00-3:00 pm.
Attendees can plan to share their personal exploits with racing, and to display their scrap books, awards, artifacts, and trophies. Bulletin boards are available for photo displays. Sound equipment and screens for film footage will be set up. Laughter, chit-chat and memories of the times spent on Cedar River are the main event. A light lunch will be served. There is no fee to attend; however, come prepared to participate.
