A second one-hour Lions Club meeting is coming up Tuesday, Oct. 17, 7:00 p.m .at Black Diamond Library. While it is an informational meeting open to the public, the ultimate goal is to establish a Lions Club in Black Diamond.
A video presentation at the Lions first meeting described how the club was established in Washington, Canada, and Mexico in 1917. It is a club that continues to “re-invent” itself. Lions Club is 100+ years old and currently has a young and diverse membership with 1.4 million members.
Lions Club welcomes attendance and questions from local residents, business owners and administration. Everything about Lions Club is service oriented – working with environmental concerns like national parks, establishing safe water worldwide, diabetes prevention, vision care including recycling and restoring eyeglasses. At Black Diamond meetings they are looking to assess the city’s health, amenities, and disparities. What can a new Lions Club do to help provide programs and services – for youth, for elderly, for all in Black Diamond? They need community input and welcome everyone to next Tuesday’s meeting.
