Spruce it up, clean it up, dig it up. No matter what the upcoming event is called, it should make a year-long impression on those who visit Maple Valley-Hobart Cemetery.
In preparation for Memorial Day on Monday, May 27, families, community residents and those who like to garden are welcome to join the community effort to make the local cemetery a visually pleasant place that projects a welcoming look. “Lend a helping hand in preparation for the holiday” read the local fliers.
Cemetery spruce up is scheduled for Saturday, May 18 from 9:00 am until noon. Maple Valley-Hobart Cemetery is located at 25115 SE 208th St. in Maple Valley.
Helpers are encouraged to bring personal drinking water along with wheelbarrows, gloves, shovels, weedwhackers, rakes and clippers. Workers should be aware that headstones are likely to be damaged if clean up includes more than just water and soft brushes.
