Mira, Murals and More Spotted Around Town

Honorary Lifetime Membership was presented to Myra Hoke by Steve Israel, historical society president.

Featuring migrating salmon, Myra’s most recent mural is on a portion of a train trestle located at the intersection of Roberts Drive and Hiway 169.

Black Diamond resident Myra Hoke can often be spotted around the city. She usually has a can of paint in one hand and paint brushes in the other, while she’s also ascending scaffolding as tall as a train trestle. Painting murals is Myra’s specialty. At the Black Diamond Museum, she often incorporates authentic artifacts into many of her murals. For her artistic contributions to the city of Black Diamond and its museum, Mira was recently presented with “Honorary Lifetime Membership”. It was noted that she continues to go “above-and-beyond” to improve the looks of Black Diamond Museum.

Loggers in Myra’s mural wield an authentic artifact, a two-man saw. The mural is painted above a display of timber and logging tools in Black Diamond Museum.
