Surprises continued last week as we were thrilled to pop into the Black Diamond City Council and pull off another caper as we announced our 2024 Citizen of the Year – Tamie Boxx Deady!!!
For those of you who might not be familiar, Tamie is third generation Black Diamond and knows EVERYTHING about our sweet community, and it was hard for the committee to believe that this phenomenal woman had not yet been Black Diamond’s Citizen of the Year!
Tamie is the heart of what makes Black Diamond a great place to live, raise a family and serve the community. Her dedication and commitment to making a difference reaches into every corner of our community. From her legendary Garage Sales, commitment to the DARE program, the Community Center and so much more; through her initiatives and commitment to service Tamie has raised over $50,000 for organizations and programs in Black Diamond through her fundraising initiatives.
Additionally, she is a selfless public servant having donated thousands of hours in her lifetime to causes in Black Diamond; the one she is most known for is her thirteen years serving as a Black Diamond City Council Member.
When we consider what citizen of the year is really all about – it’s the recognition of someone who contributes to social progress and the creation of happiness while creating an attractive community as well as becoming a great inspiration for others.
