Black Diamond Police News 10-7 to 10-13, 2019

On 10-07-2019, at approximately 0338 hours, officers responded to the 25800 block of Lawson ST for a suspicious noise. The reporting party advised that she had heard the sound of someone attempting to open their front door. Officers did not locate any sign of attempted entry nor any subjects in the area. Officers cleared the scene without incident.

On 10/7/19 an officer responded to the 31100 block of 3rd Ave for a citizen assist. A business was requesting an officer verify the VIN’s on multiple junk vehicles so they could be disposed of. The officer verified the information on six vehicles.

On 10/7/19 officers responded to the 25300 block of Cumberland Way for a suspicious vehicle. Officers checked the area but were unable to locate the vehicle. The reporting party provided the license plate for the vehicle and the officers determined the vehicle lived nearby in the same development.

On 10/7/19 an officer responded to the 31317 3rd Ave for a citizen dispute. One party was the former employer who was requesting company equipment back. The former employee insisted they had already returned the company equipment. The two subjects never spoke directly as the former employee hid in the house and immediately called the police when the former employer arrived at her residence. The officer provided the former employer with information on the civil process as no crime had occurred.

On 10-07-2019, at approximately 2102 hours, officers served a resident living in the 31100 block of 3rd AVE with a protection order stemming from a previous domestic incident. The subject was provided the order paperwork and officers cleared the scene without incident.

On 10-08-19, at approximately 07:39 hours, Officers received a call from Valley Communication Radio regarding a vehicle theft. Officers were asked to contact the female owner at her residence. Officers arrived at the residence and were informed by the vehicle owner that her adult son, who resides at her residence took the keys out of her purse without permission somewhere between 23:00 hours on 10-07-19 and 07:30 hours on 10-09-19. The vehicle owner did not want to pursue criminal charges and informed the officers that she believed that her son would return the vehicle sometime during the day. The vehicle was not entered into WACIC/NCIC as stolen.

On 10-09-19, at approximately 06:38 hours, Officers received a call from Valley Communication Radio regarding a trespass request.  Officers were informed that the owner of the Lake Sawyer Grocery wanted three juveniles trespassed from the store because one of them had stolen a pack of gum on 10-08-19.  Officers arrived and trespassed all three juveniles from the store. No criminal charges will be filed.

On 10/9/2019, an officer responded to the 31100 block of 3rd Avenue regarding the return of property. It was alleged that the property owner assaulted the victim during the dispute. The victim did not wish to pursue criminal charges. The victim agreed to contact the police department on the following day to be escorted while recovering his property.

On 10/10/2019, an officer found a vehicle in the parking lot of an auto repair business in 32600 block of 3rd Avenue with its engine running and no one around. The officer observed the keys were in the ignition. The officer ran the plate, which did not reveal an owner. The officer shut the vehicle off and put the keys in the key drop box of the business. It appears that the vehicle may have accidentally been left running by the business owner.

On 10-12-2019, at approximately 1748 hours, officers responded to the 32500 block of 2nd AVE regarding a loud music complaint. When officers arrived, they advised the subject playing the music of the municipal code regarding loud music. The music was turned down and officers cleared the scene without incident.

On 10-12-2019, at approximately 1826 hours, officers responded to the 29000 block of 224th PL SE regarding a noise complaint. When officers arrived, residents were advised to turn the music to a lower volume and cleared the scene without incident.

On Sunday, 10/13/19, at about 1536 hours, Officers were dispatched to a verbal domestic in progress, inside of a vehicle. The caller advised that she was in the area of 296th ST and 219th AVE SE (near Kentlake High School). Officers arrived and determined no crime had occurred. The male left the scene with friends and the female went home.

On 10-13-2019, at approximately 2115 hours, officers were advised of a complaint by a passing aircraft that a green laser had been shined at them from approximately 3 1/2 miles SW from the center of the city. No location of the origination of the laser was determined by the complainant. Officers conducted an area check and cleared the call without incident.

On 10-13-2019, at approximately 2323 hours, officers contacted a juvenile appearing to be under the influence of intoxicating liquor and/or drugs that had crashed his bicycle. In speaking with the juvenile, it was determined that he had marijuana on his person and had consumed both alcohol and marijuana. The juvenile provided the name of where he got the alcohol and marijuana. Officers later contacted an adult subject that admittedly had purchased marijuana for the juvenile. This case is under investigation.
