The City of Maple Valley’s T-28b Witte Road Phase 3 South – SE 254th Place Roundabout Improvements project from just south of SE 256th Street to just North of SE 254th Place is entering the construction phase with the contractor Active Construction Inc. and is estimated to be substantially completed in Spring of 2024.
This project will widen Witte Road to accommodate bike lanes on both sides, sidewalk on the west side, a roundabout at the intersection of SE 254th Place and Witte Road that includes a fish passable box culvert under SE 254th Place and intersection improvements at SE 256th Street with turn lanes. The project will also include daylighting a portion of the creek at 220th Ave. SE, franchise utility relocation and construction, drainage construction, lighting, and landscaping.
Prior to the City’s contractor starting work on the project, the gas line that heads west from Witte Road along SE 254th Place has to be relocated to a new alignment to al- low for the installation of the new box culvert on Witte Road. During this work, PSE Gas anticipates closing the southbound lane of Witte Road around SE 254th Place and closing the northbound lane of SE 254th Place Traffic control will be in place to keep one lane of traffic moving. This work is planned to start on April 17, is anticipated to take around one week, and is scheduled for weekdays between 9:00 am and 3:00 p.m.
After PSE Gas completes their work, the City’s contractor plans to begin their scope of work on April 24th. Once the contrac- tor’s schedule is more defined, a future notification regarding their work will be sent out to nearby residents.
