Lawrence “Larry” Edward Capps Passed Away

Lawrence “Larry” Edward Capps, 75, of Kent, Washington, died on Sunday July 23, 2017. Larry was born on Sept. 4, 1941 in Kent, Washington. Larry’s parents were George E. and Shirley B. Capps of Auburn, and Ed and Leatha Hendersen Erickson of Kent. He was married to Melodie Hitchcock Capps and later in life was in a long term relationship with Dolly Hymas.

Larry graduated from Kent-Meridian High School in 1960 and spent one semester at The University of La Verne in California. Larry entered the U.S. Army in Atlanta, GA and spent time in his early twenties as a baker. Larry worked with Midway Asphalt and later started his own Paving business, “L.E. Capps Construction” doing smaller jobs.

Larry was known for being good working with his hands. He could fix just about anything mechanical and earned the nickname, “Ronnie Rigot” Working on cars or a friends Harley he found great joy. Being outside and enjoying nature was very peaceful for him. He enjoyed going on fishing trips with his family and friends. He also enjoyed oil painting. He found it a great way to capture some of his memories.

He is survived by three sisters; Linda L. Kamberger (David) of Gig Harbor, Pam Rhodes (Mike) of Covington and Nancy Peoples (Carl) of Covington, four children; Tanya M. Capps-Vaughn (Shawn Moore) of Auburn, Timothy E. Capps of Oregon and Jennifer Capps-Long (Aaron) of Buckley, six grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Larry was pre-deceased by his parents George E. and Shirley B. Capps along with Ed and Leatha Hendersen Erickson, and his sisters; Carla J. Sawyer and Barbara J. Capps.
