Maple Valley Creative Arts Council members are thrilled to share that a brand-new mural has been installed at Summit Park in Maple Valley as of January 15, 2026! Created by local artist Shelly Metzger, this vibrant new artwork is officially in place and ready to be enjoyed by the community. This project was made possible through a grant awarded to the Maple Valley Creative Arts Council, in partnership with the City of Maple Valley. Planning began in Spring 2025, with a collaborative process to refine the concept, location, and design. The mural is inspired by Maple Valley’s railroad history, the character of our community, and our shared love of gnomes. It also weaves in themes of perseverance and optimism, inspired by The Little Engine That Could, creating a playful and welcoming backdrop for visitors of all ages. The mural now proudly lives at Summit Park for the whole community to enjoy. A dedication ceremony will be held in the coming weeks. We look forward to officially dedicating the mural to the community and will share details once the City confirms the date. Stay tuned!
