Local geologist Zach Pratt will soon be teaching about the unique geology of the Black Diamond area. He emphasizes how coal played a significant part in the town’s history as a coal mining town.  The presentation is free, as are all Historical Society events, thanks to 4Culture and Doors Open-King County. The program is scheduled from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 28 at Black Diamond History Museum’s auditorium, 32627 Railroad Avenue, Black Diamond.

“The Ghost’s Grave”

A second event focuses on the book, “The Ghost’s Grave”, by Peg Kehret. The first 20 children to arrive at the museum will get a free book that tells of Willie’s adventures. The main character, Willie, searched a cemetery, but what was he looking for? Local children can join a trip to Black Diamond Cemetery to find out. The event starts at Black Diamond History Museum’s auditorium on Saturday, March 28 from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m.
