The Holidays are here, and with that special time, comes hardships for many seniors and families if you can’t afford to spend money on a holiday meal, let alone toys or other gifts.
The Black Diamond Community Center has been given many, many financial donations, along with turkeys, food, and toys to help all those in our area who need a little “gift” of their own for a happier holiday.
To start the generosity was the Black Diamond Historical Society, organized by Hometown Christmas chaired by Sherri Evans, who gave money to adopt seniors and families.
Holiday meals will be provided from donations by the Pythians, Black Diamond Eagles (Green River Aerie), Enumclaw Lions, Maple Valley Black Diamond Rotary, Kiwanis Club of Black Diamond Maple Valley, St. Barbara Parish, Circle of Joy, Lake Sawyer Christian Church, Lake Sawyer Community Club, Gena Laws and family, Ten Trails, Craig Goodwin and his calendar sales, Cenex Store, Fire Department Union 3186, the Enumclaw School District food drive, Bill and Sandi Hooper, and many others who gave.
Giving Trees are located at the Black Diamond Library, St. Barbara Parish, and the Community Center. From these trees, people are giving toys, along with Melissa and Bryan Kelley representing the Washington/Idaho Automotive Service Association and their employees.
Once again the wonderful community of Black Diamond has risen to the call to help those in need of a little “holiday cheer.”
Happy Holidays from the staff and Board of Directors of the Black Diamond Community Center: President Keith Watson, Vice President Jude Irish, Treasurer Elsie Parkin, Secretary Rebecca Olness, Directors Dave Ambur, Sue Androsko, Tamie Deady, LeRoy Holcomb, Marsha Tetzlaff, and Judy Watson.
