BD Reports 5-18 to 5-24, 2020

On 5-18-2020, at approximately 1243 hours, Black Diamond Officers were notified by the records specialist that a resident had called in to report a fraudulent unemployment claim. Officers contacted the victim by phone. She reported that she discovered someone had filed for unemployment in her name. She is still employed and did not file the claim and does not know who filed the claim. She was provided with a case number for her records.

On 05-19-2020, at approximately 11:00 hours, Officers received a telephone message from Administrative Assistant Joan Sloss regarding a fraud. Officers were informed that a female subject wanted to report that someone tried to file for unemployment using her and her husband’s name. Officers contacted the female subject by telephone. The subject stated that she has no idea who used her name or her husband’s name to file for unemployment.

On 05-19-2020, at approximately 11:30 hours, Officers were informed that a male subject left a voicemail at the Black Diamond Police Department regarding someone who tried to file for unemployment using his name. Officers contacted the subject by telephone. The subject has no idea who used his name to file for unemployment.

On 05-19-2020, at approximately 12:40 hours, Officers received a telephone message from Administrative Assistant Joan Sloss regarding a fraud. The subject stated that he has no idea who used his name or his wife’s name to file for unemployment.

On 5/19/2020 an officer was dispatched to a fraud report to be handled by phone. Contact was made with the victim, who resides in the 32800 block of SE Cottonwood Street. The victim reported someone processed a fraudulent unemployment application with his personal information. The victim was provided with resources needed to secure his identity moving forward.

On 05-19-2020, at approximately 14:52 hours, Officers were informed by Valley Communication Radio that a male subject wanted to report that someone who tried to file for unemployment using his name. Officers contacted the subject by telephone.  The subject has no idea who used his name to file for unemployment.

On 5/19/2020 two employees with the Black Diamond Police Department were notified that someone had attempted to obtain unemployment benefits in their names without permission. A report was taken, and the victims forwarded information to the WA State Employment Security Department for further investigation.

On 05-19-2020, at approximately 1850 hours, officers responded to the 22500 block of SE 296th for a malicious mischief in progress. When officers arrived, they contacted the juvenile subjects involved and after collecting their information they were free to leave. Charges pending city’s wanting to follow through on charge.

On 05-20-2020, at approximately 08:11 hours, Officers were informed that a subject wanted to report that someone tried to file for unemployment using her name.  Officers contacted the subject by telephone. The subject has no idea who used her name to file for unemployment

On 5/20/2020 an officer was dispatched to a two car motor vehicle accident in the intersection of 3rd Avenue and Ravensdale Road. The at-fault driver was found to be driving with a suspended driver’s license. The driver was issued a criminal citation and infractions relating to the accident and released from the scene. Both vehicles were driven from the scene by licensed drivers.

On 5/21/2020 officers were dispatched to a verbal domestic dispute in the 30700 block of 229th AVE SE. Officers arrived and found that the argument started when the male half let the puppy out of the kennel, and the puppy ate the female half’s stimulus check. This incident was verbal only, with no crimes being committed.

On 5/21/2020 officers assisted the King County Sheriff’s Office with a search for two lost hikers near the Hanging Gardens Park. Officers accessed the forest service road at Botts Drive and Mountain View Drive and began searching. The hikers made their way out of the trail and back to their vehicle without incident.

On 05/21/2020, at approximately 1930 hours, Black Diamond Police Department Officers responded to the 31100 block of 3rd Ave in reference to a hit and run traffic collision.  Upon arrival, the suspect was located and a traffic collision report was completed.

On Thursday, 05/21/2020, Officers stopped a vehicle in the 31600 block of 3rd AVE for a speed violation. Subsequent investigation determined that the driver had a license status of Suspended in the Third Degree. The driver was cited and released at the scene.

On Friday, 05/22/2020, Officers stopped a vehicle in the 23200 block of Roberts DR for a speed violation. Subsequent investigation determined that the driver had a license status of Suspended in the 3rd Degree. The driver was cited and released at the scene.

On Friday, 05/22/2020, Officers were dispatched to the 30700 block of Blaine AVE in regard to a report of a suspicious vehicle. Officers contacted the owner of the vehicle, who lived in the neighborhood, and he agreed to move it.

On 05/23/2020, at approximately 0037 hours, the Black Diamond Police Department Police Department conducted a traffic stop at the 24400 block of Morgan St. A DUI investigation was conducted and an arrest was made.

On Saturday, 05/23/2020, Officers were dispatched to a residence in the 32800 block of Merino ST in regard to a report of a dispute. Upon arrival, Officers were able to determine that the matter was civil in nature and that no crime was being committed. Officers advised the parties involved in handing the matter via the civil process.

On 5/23/2020, an officer received a report of fraud regarding unemployment benefits from a resident in the 25200 block of Cumberland Place. This report was part of a larger unemployment fraud case.

On 5-23-2020, at approximately 1209 hours, Black Diamond Officers were dispatched to an unwanted subject at the Lake Sawyer Resort. It was reported two individuals who were not guests of the resort were using the showers. Officers arrived on scene and made contact with both individuals who were then identified. The male subject had a warrant out of Algona, Algona Police requested Black Diamond Officers advise the subject of his warrant and release him. Officers advised the subject of his warrant and informed both individuals that since they were not guests they were not permitted to use the facilities. The subjects stated they understood and left the scene. Officers advised the reporting party of the actions taken and provided her with a case number for her records.

On 5/24/2020, an officer responded to the 23200 block of SE 312 ST for a report of vehicles parked in a no parking zone. The officer checked the area and found the vehicles were parked in an area that lacked sufficient signage to be a violation.

On 5/24/2020, officers responded to the 23200 block of SE 312 ST for a report of a dispute over a parking issue. One party left before officers arrived and could not be located. Officers contacted the other party and advised them of the recent law change regarding parking in this area. No crime was reported.

On 5-24-2020, at approximately 1316 hours, Black Diamond Officers discovered two vehicles parked in the 23200 block of SE 312th ST. There is no parking allowed on the portion of this street. Officers issued written warnings which were placed on the two vehicle’s windshields. Officers cleared the scene.

On 5/24/2020, officers responded to the 23000 block of SE Dogwood St for a report of a possible theft from a construction site. Officers were unable to locate the suspect and the reporting party would not return calls from the officers to determine what had occurred.
