Black Diamond Police Reports from 5-25 to 5-31, 2020

On 5-25-2020, at approximately 0613 hours, Black Diamond Officers were dispatched to a fraud report to be taken by phone. Officers made contact with the reporting party by phone and discovered he was the victim of identity theft which lead to someone filing a fraudulent unemployment claim in his name. The victim stated he is currently employed with the state of Washington and did not file the claim and does not know who did. Officers advised him of the actions to take and provided him with a case number for his records.

On 5/25/2020, officers responded to the 25000 block of Summit Drive for a suspicious vehicle. Officers found the vehicle belonged to a nearby resident but was not street legal. The vehicle owner was contacted and advised to move the vehicle.

On 5-25-2020, at approximately 1305 hours, Black Diamond Officers were dispatched to a commercial burglary in progress in the 31100 block of 3rd AVE. Officers arrived on scene and made contact with the building owner who advised two subjects could be seen on video surveillance in the building. The two subjects exited the building and officers made contact with them. The building owner identified one of the individuals as an employee and advised officers the subject was authorized to be in the building. No crime had been committed and officers cleared the scene.

On 5/25/2020, officer received a report of a welfare check on a potential physical domestic violence incident at an unknown address. The officers were able to locate additional information and found an address for the involved parties outside of the City of Black Diamond. The information was passed on to the King County Sheriff’s Office so they could respond.

On 05-25-2020, at approximately 2214 hours, officers responded to the 29100 block of 234th AVE SE for a firework complaint. When officers arrived they contacted the homeowner and advised them of the city municipal codes regarding fireworks. Officers cleared the scene without incident.

On 05-26-2020, at approximately 1739 hours, officers were dispatched to take a phone report of a rape that occurred in January of 2018. This case is currently under investigation.

On 05/27/2020, Officers were notified of a fraud report. An Officer contacted the victim and learned that an unknown person had fraudulently filed for unemployment benefits under her name. A report was taken and the victim was provided resources to further protect her identity.

On 05/28/2020, at 1655 hours, the Black Diamond Police Department responded to a parking complaint at 22900 block of SE 312th St. Upon arrival, four vehicles were found illegally parked. Vehicle owners were located and the vehicles were moved.

On Thursday,05/28/2020, Officers were contacted at the Black Diamond Police Department by an individual who wanted to turn in a handbag he found on the roadway in the 30400 block of 3rd AVE. Officers determined the identity of the owner and the bag was placed into evidence until they could come to the station to pick it up. On 5/29/2020 the owner of the purse contacted the police department and made arrangements to retrieve her property. Officers later met with her at the police department and provided her with her property.

On 5-29-2020, at approximately 1050 hours Black Diamond Officers were conducting routine patrol in the 23200 block of SE 312th ST when they observed a vehicle parked on the North side of the road near the access gate to Lake Sawyer Regional Park. This portion of the street is not clearly marked “no parking” so a written warning was posted on the vehicle which provides directions to the parking area for the Lake Sawyer Regional Park.

On 5-29-2020, at approximately 1232 hours, Black Diamond Officers were dispatched to a marine complaint involving a potential hazard on the water. The reporting party advised officers of a floating dock tied to a buoy which he was worried could float away. Officers contacted Public Works and were advised it would be handled. Officers later confirmed the dock had been moved.

On 5-29-2020, at approximately 1255 hours, Black Diamond Officers were dispatched to a marine complaint involving boats on the lake speeding before speeding hours. Black Diamond Officers conducted a patrol of the lake on the boat and found no violations.

On 5/29/2020, officers responded to the 29100 block of 218 PL SE for a report of loud yelling coming from a residence. Officers contacted the involved parties who denied any dispute or argument occurred. The involved parties stated they simply talk loud and will be quieter in the future.

On 5/29/2020, an officer was in the 24300 block of Roberts Drive when he was contacted by two juvenile males. The juveniles informed the officer they were riding their bikes and located a debit card on the side of the road. The debit card was turned over to the officer. The officer was unable to identify the owner of the card.

On 5/30/2020, an officer received a theft report of a boat from the 30400 block of 234 AVE SE. The officer received information the boat was found by another resident floating down the lake. The officer was able to confirm it was the same boat. There is no indication the boat was stolen, it appears the boat floated away. The boat was retrieved by the owner.

On 5-30-2020, at approximately 1107 hours, Black Diamond Officers were dispatched to a report of found property. The reporting party had found two firearms which belonged to her deceased father. She initially wanted officers to take possession of the firearms. Officers contacted the reporting party and informed her the firearms would be put into evidence for destruction. After officers met with the reporting party she decided to keep the firearms.

On 5/30/2020, an officer on patrol in the 23700 block of Roberts Drive found a section of roadway that was flooding and causing a traffic hazard. City of Black Diamond Public Works was contacted and responded. The officers provided traffic control while Public Works worked to correct the issue.

On 5/30/2020, officers responded to the 31100 block of 3rd Ave for a report of a vehicle that had been towed and was reported stolen. Officers found the vehicle had two VIN’s. One was reported stolen and one was not. Officers determined the stolen VIN did not match the vehicle it was on. It is not clear why the vehicle had two VIN’s or when this occurred.

On 05-30-2020, at approximately 2202 hours, officers responded to the area of the 33100 block of Glacier AVE for a report of suspicious subjects near a vacant home. Officers located the subjects and found that they had recently purchased the home and had a right to be there. Officers cleared the scene without incident.

On 05-31-2020, at approximately 1645 hours, officers received a suspicious item dropped off at the Cenex Station intended for a member of the Black Diamond Police department. The subject is known to the Black Diamond Police Department and has perviously provided unwanted items to the department. Officers pulled a case number for documentation.

On 05-31-2020, at approximately 2024 hours, officers responded to the 22500 block of SE 296th at the boat launch for a marine complaint. A juvenile had disconnected a public dock and floated it off-shore. Officers pulled the dock and juvenile back in and secured it. Officers cleared the scene without incident.

On 05-31-2020, at approximately 2350 hours, officers were dispatched to the area of SE Fir and Hemlock AVE. When Officers arrived, they contacted a group of juveniles and advised them of the noise ordinance. The juveniles agreed to move out of the area and officers cleared the scene without incident.
