Black Diamond Police Reports

On 8/29/2023 Officers responded to the area of 288th St. in reference to an armed car jacking that recently occurred in King County Sheriff’s jurisdiction but KCSO asked Black Diamond Officers to be on the lookout for the suspect vehicles due to the close proximity to Black Diamond limits. A responding Black Diamond officer observed the suspect vehicle fleeing southbound at a high rate of speed on SE 296th ST. The officer turned around to try to stop the vehicle but initially did not locate it. The vehicle was located a few minutes later in a ditch off of the roadway as it had been involved in a single vehicle collision into a large tree. Three occupants were removed from the vehicle with serious injuries and were transported to Harborview Medical. At the time of the collision, none of the occupants could be identified but it was presumed they were all juveniles. The King County Medical Examiner later advised that the driver was deceased and still not identified. WSP responded to the scene to assist with the major collision investigation and KCSO later took custody of the vehicle for evidence in the armed carjacking that spurred the incident.
